What is Dollars for Doers?

Dollars for Doers is a corporate giving program that encourages employees to volunteer with nonprofit organizations like Words Alive. Corporations provide financial donations or grants based on the number of volunteer hours reported by the employee. These programs may be known as “matching time,” “volunteer matching,” or “service credit” at your place of employment.

Giving Platforms

There are many platforms commonly used by corporations for Dollars for Doers programs.

In order to have your volunteer service qualify for a corporate match, you must report your hours to a platform used by your employer. Please note that this is different from reporting your service hours to Words Alive and will need to be done in addition to reporting your service hours to us directly.

The two most common platforms we see are:

  • Benevity

    • Log into Benevity

    • Search for Words Alive (ID: 330857381)

    • Select “Track Time” to report hours

  • Your Cause

    • Log into Your Cause

    • Search for Words Alive (ID: 330857381)

    • Select “Track Time” to report hours.

How do I find out if my employer offers Dollars for Doers?

First, check the list. If you do not see your company listed, reach out to your employer’s HR team to find out if they offer a Dollars for Doers program.
