“Crisis, surge, migrants, immigrants” are buzzwords often thrown about. These words separate us from those actually affected by the crisis. This is more than a story of a nation and its immigrants. It’s more than a surge and an unprecedented situation. It’s the story of people who are seeking opportunities for themselves and their families. The stories of real people often get lost in the noise of the media.
Take the time to research the conditions which are driving immigration. Find the story of a specific person that resonates with you. With that knowledge, write the story of that person in a narrative format. What was their journey like, and what were their motivations for making the journey? What do you hope for their future?
