Curriculum Translator
Did you know there are nearly 60 languages spoken at home by families in San Diego County alone? Help families build healthy reading habits and skillsets by translating existing Words Alive resources into other languages. Volunteer curriculum translators allow Words Alive to provide resources to more students and families than ever before! We are currently looking for volunteer support to translate resources into languages including Amharic, Arabic, Burmese, Korean, Portuguese, Spanish, Somali, and Vietnamese.
Responsibilities:
Translate curriculum guides based on book titles chosen to be included in programming.
Translate learning kits guides to complement the curriculum guides.
Communicate with curriculum translation lead to ensure that the guides and learnings kits are completed to the specifications of the project.
A great Curriculum Designer has:
Speak one or more languages.
Fluency is not required.
Strong attention to detail.
Have a commitment to quality assurance.
Commitment:
This position is 100% virtual.
Self-paced.
Can work as little or as much as one would like.
A minimum of one project per month.
Requirements:
16 years old and older.
If under 18, a parent or guardian will need to sign a volunteer youth waiver before volunteer service begins.
Have access to and knowledge of computer technology and Microsoft Word.
Onboarding and Training:
Attend a 30-minute volunteer orientation and submit a volunteer application.
Complete virtual Words Matter training (approximately one hour)
If utilizing the asynchronous Words Matter module, a virtual assessment must also be completed to ensure understanding of key concepts.
Complete asynchronous Curriculum training (approximately one hour).
After Curriculum training, review the supplied “How to” document and submit project sign-up form.
